How learning happens through teaching
Published on: October 1, 2024
In this blog, I've shared how I explored a new way of learning. Learning through teaching.
Welcome to my portfolio. I recently started learning by teaching, I build startups in my spare time (because why not?), tell stories like I’m paid for it, and consult with enough energy to make you smile.
You won’t find any boring bullet points here, just a lot of bold ideas and the confidence to back them up.
Dare to explore? Let’s go.
Explore my worldMastering the art of winging it, one project at a time. Here is my professional story
On March 2024, I began my journey as a Lecturer at the Victorian Institute of Education. I started teaching two courses: Graduate Diploma of Management (Learning) & Adv. Diploma of Leadership and Management. I also took over the role of Business Development Head of Adelaide Campus while also leading our global marketing team from Sydney Campus, Philippines, Indonesia, Colombia, Brazil, Fiji, India, Nepal, China and Bangladesh
On April 2024, I officially launched my first startup in Australia named Sustainamatch. Sustainamatch is a open energy marketplace specially dealing with carbon credits. This startup was also selected to become a resident company under Thinclab which is the official incubator of the University of Adelaide. This was done whilst I was a current student of the university.
On June 2024, I was successfully selected as one of the Global Shapers for Global Shapers Community which is a youth entity of the World Economic Forum. Also working on the next WEF's youth forum called Shape 2025 that is going to happen in March 2025 in Adelaide.
In July 2023, I was elected as the representative of more than 57,000 current Nepalese students in Australia by the Non-Resident Nepalese Association which is an organization working with both Government of Australia and Government of Nepal. A historical event under my tenureship conducting the first Youth Conclave in Adelaide Convention Center where MPs from both Nepal and Australia come together with the Nepalese Youths to work on NRN Policies.
On Feb 2023, I landed my first job in Australia as a Admin at Keylend (which is the third largest mortgage broking firm in Australia) in the third week of my arrival in Australia as a student. I was later promoted to a position of ParaBroker and was also assigned to the founding team of their new wing of Islamic Mortgage Broker Firm - Sharia Finance while also working for Keylend which enabled to handle multiple projects at once in a corporate setting.
On Jan 2020, I began my journey into setting up an NGO named Reimagining Society. During this process, I met 3 other individuals from Philippines, Bhutan and Bangladesh. Slowly (even during COVID), in the span of one year, the organization grew to 147 individuals from 42+ countries working in the core team. We worked with many policy-making organizations and governments of many countries. We did our own onground projects in Yemen in 2020 to coduct "The wellbeing of Yemen" and similarly many other such projects were done.
On March 2019, I was appointed as the UN Habitat Youth Envoy by UN Habitat South Korea during the Global Goals Summit in Malaysia and in the same event I was also awarded as the Youth of the Year for my contribution in my community as a youth specifically working towards UN SDGs Goal 3: Good Health and Wellbeing and Goal 4: Quality Education.
On June 2018, I organized the first public TEDx event of Nepal. With more than 14 guest speakers including government officials and Ambassador of Germany to Nepal, it was an event that started the concept of TEDx events in Nepal.
I sat for what’s known as one of the toughest exams in the world, the JEE in India and I cracked it and landed a spot at NIT Allahabad. But after a year, I realized that the course and I weren't exactly a match made in heaven, so I moved on. Back in Nepal, I thought, 'Why not give it another go?' and took on another 'toughest exam,' the IOE entrance. Cracked that too, got into Kathmandu Engineering College… and dropped out again. Guess sometimes you just have to accept that not everything’s meant for everyone, right? Haha!
